Coast to Coast Walk

Created by Alfred Wainwright, the Coast to Coast Walk crosses the North of England from the Irish Sea at St Bees to the North Sea at Robin Hoods Bay. The Coast to Coast Walk passes through some of the most beautiful and varied scenery in the country: the rugged mountains and beautiful lakes of the Lake District, the rolling hills and pretty valleys of the Yorkshire Dales and the expansive heather moorland of the North York Moors, with some dramatic coastal scenery at each end.
This tour divides the 190-mile (304km) trail into 14 stages, which works out at an average of 13.5 miles (21.5km) per day. Shorter days occur early in the tour, where steep ascents are encountered during the crossing of several mountain passes in the Lake District. Longer days occur later in the tour where the terrain is much easier.
