Secret Villages of Mallorca
* Pretty coastal paths, lush green valleys, ancient cork and pine forests
* Beautiful honey-colored mountain villages off the tourist trail
* Beautiful hotels - full of character - pools at both
* Exotic Mediterranean flora: orange trees, almonds, olive and lemon groves
* Option for extra nights in cosmopolitan Palma: Gothic cathedral, impressive Moorish palace, curious Arab baths and colorful harbor
This varied twin centre walking holiday explores the western coast of Mallorca where the Tramuntana mountain range plunges into the Med. Most visitors stay near Palma so the western coast remains a quiet haven of oak clad hills, abandoned monasteries, honey villages, hidden coves and citrus groves.
Starting out in the beautiful unspoilt valley of Orient, you walk through the olive studded Tramuntana mountains to taking in the sleepy village of Alaro and the remains of Mallorca's most impressive fortress. It's then off to Sóller, a lively town with bustling squares and elegant C19 houses. From here, you enjoy a wonderful coastal walk around the port, visit Mallorca's prettiest village, Fornalutx and have the option to take a day trip to Palma to explore its Gothic cathedral and Moorish palace.
The two hotels you stay in are some of our favourites and each is memorably different: from a restored monastery at Orient complete with turreted towers, cool cloistered courtyards and beautiful Mediterranean gardens and a former 19C Bishop’s residence in the heart of Sóller with walled garden, pool and jacuzzi. Dinners are taken in the hotels and are based around typical regional cuisine.
