Highlights of Tenerife Walk

  • Spectacular Isle of Eternal Spring: prehistoric forests, plunging valleys and terraced vineyards
  • Fishing villages, cliff top lighthouses and poppy-fringed country trails
  • Black sand beaches, vivid lava flows, snow-capped Mount Teide and protected Anaga National Park
  • Wonderfully varied hotels: traditional farm with pool and historic nobleman’ s mansion by the sea
  • Complementary rental car included in tour price

On Tenerife it is forever springtime – the sunny climate, glorious flowers, balmy temperatures and majestic scenery make it a perfect antidote to the British winter. A rugged and spectacular island, it has an incredible variety of landscapes to explore.

On this varied twin-centre walking holiday, you stay in both the east and west of the island and have a hire car provided, so it is easy to discover the most dramatic and unknown regions the island has to offer*.

You begin in the Anaga National Park in the east - plunging valleys of prehistoric protected lauresilva forest and steep terraces of vines are dotted with tiny white washed cottages here, and friendly local bars welcome walkers with open arms. You then cross over to the west where spectacular circular walks take you past crimson lava flows and shattered rock pinnacles below the snow-capped summit of Mount Teide. At almost half the height of Everest, it towers over the entire island!

For the first part of your holiday, you stay near Guimar in a gorgeous traditional Spanish finca (farm) with a lovely pool, where spacious rooms have pretty terraces with mountain views, set amongst avocado and citrus trees. In the west, your base is a beautifully converted nobleman’s mansion in the coastal fishing village of Garachico. Old men play dominoes in the square as the church bells chime in the evening paseo (stroll).

* As most recommended walks do not start directly from the hotels, a rental car is included in your holiday price.
