Ancient Lycia is in southwest Turkey, whose Aegean shore is known as the Turquoise Coast.  In this stunning region, craggy limestone mountains plunge into azure seas, and evidence of the Greek, Lycian and Roman empires are strewn around like half buried treasures, linked together by coastal trails that used to be the trade routes of antiquity.  These routes now comprise one of the finest long distance footpaths in the world - the Lycian Way, and on this holiday you'll walk from north to south through some of Turkey's finest coastal scenery, stopping to swim in the clear seas en route to, and from, the finest hotels available.  (And where hotels are not en route, we include short transfers where necessary).

You begin in the orchards of pretty Kayakoy village for two nights, enjoying walks through ghost villages down to clear coastal lagoons, before joining the Lycian Way at nearby Ovacik. Your route then takes you through pine forests and past ancient carved sarcophagi to the tiny village of Faralya, perfect for panoramic sea views.  After one night here with the Semerci Family, you continue south through oregano and thyme scented mountain scenery to Alinca, from where we transfer you to the Roman ruins of Patara at the mouth of the fertile Xanthos Valley.  After a free day to explore these romantic palm tree and sand dune fringed remains, you walk on to the the delightful resort of Kalkan for the final two nights.
