Cross Country Skiing

Our new "snow" holiday takes you to incredibly pretty mountain villages where life has hardly changed over the centuries;  tiny hamlets in Scandinavia where reindeer wander freely across the country tracks;  picture-postcard Swiss villages where farmers ride the snowy roads on sleights, doffing thier felt hats as they go, passing wooden houses decorated with fir boughs and bright ribbons;  snow-sure Tyrolean mountain retreats where elegant C16 mansions reflect the region's history as Seat of the upper classes.

The hotels we've choosen are special too, but in lots of different ways, often reflecting the unique tastes and styles of the people who run them.  So we have luxuriously restored farmhouses, traditional Alpine lodges and Norways' first Spa Hotel on the edge of the spectacular Rondane National Park.

Everyone who tries is enjoys having fun in the snow!  For many it's the peaceful charm of cross country skiing, away from the crowds, and along beautifully groomed flat trails affording stunning valley views.  For some, it's the chance to get close to nature and try gentle activities like snow-shoeing and winter walking through a total silence of a virgin snowscape.
