This fabulous tour of discovery begins from our historic mansion hotel in Quito, from whose cobbled streets and golden churches we drive north to Otovalo to explore vibrant markets and 18C haciendas of the snow capped Andean highlands. Our private guide Rodney Bravo explains the fascinating history and culture before your flight out to the Galapagos.
These legendary 13 islands and 40 islets are strewn like jewels in the Pacific. They are fiercely protected and visitor numbers are strictly limited. Incredibly 97% of the National Park is pristine and untouched so today’s visitor can see the same sights as Darwin did over 300 years ago.
Home in the islands is the Santa Cruz - a first class cruising yacht offering wonderful service and cuisine. Each day we’ll visit two contrasting areas on various islands. Much of every day is spent ashore with professional rangers who lead walks on black lava flows or over white coralline beaches through iguana, albatross and sea lion colonies. Pelicans and boobies dive bomb schools of silver fish as you snorkel in crystal seas, and while sailing look out for rays, dolphins and whales, especially in the western islands.
Cuisine is first class with three course lunches and four course dinners - guides dine with guests at both. Wildlife lectures are given most evenings along with sunset cocktails and stargazing talks. Air-conditioned en suite cabins are beautifully presented, and you can use the library, sundeck, Jacuzzi, lounge, bar and observation decks for relaxation after amazing days ashore.
