This guided walking holiday is based in the little village of Vaneze, just above the Renaissance city of Trento and right on the edge of the spectacular Brenta Dolomites. The 32-room Hotel Monte Bondone is run by walkers for walkers. With all meals included, it gives excellent value for money.

The varied walks - lead by Paolo, your hotelier, or one of his team - take you along forest tracks in search of capercaillie, chamois and even red deer, and hillside paths through alpine anemone, snowdrops, violets and bright red poppies. And there are swimming opportunities in some of the stunning mountain lakes. On two days you climb up to the romantic rocky peaks (don’t worry - all the paths are easy!) that look right out over the dramatic Dolomite range and across the lush Trentino valleys as far as Lake Garda.
