If you fancy cycling alongtraffic-free country lanes and quiet coastal roads through one ofFrance’s best-loved regions, then this holiday is for you. At times, with the countryside angling gently into the Atlantic, the huge skiesand wonderful light give a feeling of space that is almostoverwhelming. At others, as you pedal through the green river valleysbetween hedgerow and low stone walls, you become part of this intimate landscape.
The cycling days are short allowing you plenty of time to poke around the villages, explore the pretty little fishing ports or picnic on the beach. On your rest days you can visit Locronan, the preserved Renaissance village used as a location for Polanski’s Tess, take a boat to the shipwreck looters’ island of Sein or delve into the sidestreets of Quimper, the oldest Breton city and still the “charming little place” known to Flaubert.
Each of the places you visit has its own individual character and charm, however a warm friendly welcome is common to all. You stay in a turreted 3-star country house, a seaside hotel and a lovely English-style guesthouse overlooking the sea.
