All About Gozo

Before I head off on my trip, I thought I would share a little information about the island of Gozo. Gozo is one of three islands, which also include Malta and Comino, that make up the Republic of Malta. Gozo is also called The Island of Calypso, because it is believed Gozo was the actual location for the mythological Ogygia in Homer's Odyssey. There is even Calypso's Cave on the island, which is believed to be where the nymph Calypso kept Odysseus a prisoner.
Gozo has a warm climate with warm summers and mild winters. The average high during the time we will be there is in the upper 70s, but it is also the rainy season, so we will be bringing rain gear, just in case.
Over 27,000 people live on Gozo and one of its most famous attractions is the Azure Window, a rock formation which frames the blue sea and sky. The Azure Window has been featured in a number of movies, including the latest version of "The Count of Monte Cristo." Visit the Malta Movie Map to learn about other movies filmed in the area (hint: Brad Pitt starred in one and Sean Connery in another).
There are also several archeological sites, and many examples of outstanding architecture, including St. George's Basilica.
Here are some links to more information about Gozo. If you have any questions I can answer, let me know!
