NEW for 2015, our 8 night cycling tour, Italian Alps to Lake Garda Cycling, reveals the unique character and outstanding beauty of Trentino.
Northern Italy’s charm lies in its harmony of contrasts, the south of South Tyrol dominated by the rugged beauty of the Dolomites, Trentino’s quaint, pastel-colored mountain villages and historic cities and the wonderful sub-Mediterranean climate of Lake Garda, fringed with lemon trees and olive orchards. Despite the palm trees, you’ll be closer to Vienna than Rome! The Trentino region represents the confluence of three of Europe’s great languages and cultures; German, Austrian and Italian, with architecture and cuisine reflecting its historic position at the crossroads of all three countries.
The cycling is laid-back (1 bike rated), mostly following riverside cycle paths with an ever-changing backdrop of mountains, lakes, castles, vineyards and orchards. A final spin takes you down to the shimmering waters of Lake Garda, to enjoy an aperitivo by the water’s edge as the sun sets behind the mountains.
You’ll stay in 3-star and 4-star hotels including a recently renovated property with a small spa and the town’s finest restaurant with an excellent menu serving modern and traditional dishes, a former mansion in the town center, a traditional landhous with swimming pool and spectacular views over vineyards and orchards and a family run hotel with an enviable lake-side position, just one minute from the harbor of Riva del Garda: each hotel has its own unique character, perfectly in keeping with its surroundings.
